Absolute Action MMA hosted their five year anniversary event at the Bank of Kentucky Center this past Friday night at The Bank of Kentucky Center, The AAMMA 42 fight card was set with 16 bouts as late as weigh in day and dropped to a total of 11 bouts after having some fighters withdraw to injury as well as a no show by one of the amateur fighters who was scheduled to compete.
AAMMA 42 started off with a 8 amateur bouts then featured 3 professional bouts seeing Justin Sowers and Chris Curtis walk away with first round finishes and Indianapolis bantamweight Justin King survived a first round knock out punch at the bell to fight the final 2 rounds and pull off a decision win over Charlie Stanford.
The amateur portion of the card was fast paced and exciting with Chicago’s Rufus Elston and Cincinnati’s Jason Vele treating the fans to a 3 round war with the decision going to Vele in the bout right after the Fight of the Night winner with Alphonso Allen and Darryl Booker fighting a close 3 round fight ending with Darryl Booker winning the split decision.
Cincinnati’s Amanda Benjamin stepped inside the cage for the last amateur bout of the evening to take on Indiana’s Nicole Spurlock and got the crowd fired up showcasing a very impressive striking display not seen in her previous fights to take the victory by TKO in the 2nd round.
